Updated: Jan 23, 2022

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, which manages Virginia's state parks, says that "Virginia state parks are open," but some services are not yet available because of Covid-19. Here's what's listed as open, as of May 27:

  • Trails for hiking, biking and equestrian use

  • Campgrounds (except at Twin Lakes State Park, where the septic system is being repaired)

  • Camping cabins and yurts

  • Boat and bike rentals (varies by park)

  • Tidal beaches

  • Fishing piers

  • Boat ramps

  • Picnic tables and grills (open for groups fewer than 10)

  • Restrooms

  • Chairlift at Natural Tunnel State Park (limited schedule)

Cabins will be open on June 11. For more, check the DCR website.
